Senior Year Is Important For The Future By Valerie Chavez

When you think of senior year you may think of the last experiences that you get before you enter the next chapter of your life. This year the class of 2020 has had all of the things they have been dreaming about taken away from them. They lost their last assembly, dance, and last day of school. Some may brush this all off and say that they didn’t miss much or that they are overreacting. What these people don't see is that these seniors have missed out on a very important step in their lives. This could affect them not only now but in the future. This may be leading you to ask is senior year the best year of high school? How is senior year an ending of a chapter in a person's life? How does senior year affect a person's life in the future?

Many people who have already graduated high school say that senior year was their favorite. There are many reasons for this. 12th grade is the year where you are at the top of the school. You are finally ahead of the game and the other grades look up to you. It's like a social rank where you achieve the highest of the highest that only happens once in your lifetime. Senior year is your last chance to make your mark in sports and academics. Think of all those memories. When they are all added up together, it makes senior year the best school year.. In general Senior year is the best year of high school.

What many people don't know or realize is that senior year is the ending of a chapter of a person's life. Senior year is a last farewell to grade school and pretty much to your childhood. Not to scare anyone, but senior year is the last year where you are not an adult and have to face the struggles that adulthood has to offer. This is a very big chapter that is coming to a close in just a short year. A person finally has an idea of your identity and who you are. You spent your entire middle and high school life finding the answer of what your place is and who you are. Senior year the answer becomes clearer as you are now free to choose who you want to be soon in the future. You are free to start completely new. This is a year where you say goodbye to your past and say hello to your future. 12th grade year is the year where you can prepare yourself for your dreams.

What happens if a person misses out on this crucial year? They miss out on a lot and they could feel left out. They miss out on their last school dance. This may seem like not a big deal but for a senior who has been dreaming of their senior prom for their whole life gets them taken away from them. That's just the beginning. If you are in sports you will miss out on the last game you will ever play. You miss out on your last chance of winning a state championship and leaving your mark at your school. You miss the final goodbye to the life that you have previously lived in your school years. Therefore if you miss out of this crucial year, you miss out on your last chances. This can hurt a person especially if they have worked to achieve these dreams/goals for their entire high school years. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, with it taken away it can really hurt.

Senior year is important for the future. You are so close to becoming an adult, you can either continue your learning and go to college, or you can take an alternative route and start working, or even start a family of your own. Think about the joys of Senior year. Whether you're a senior now, will be, or already graduated, think about all the good that happens in this year. This time means that you made it, you have an education, you have made it through all the drama, you now know who your true friends are. This year is both an ending and beginning of chapters. It's the end of your grade school years, it's also the beginning of your adult life.
