Dear Class of 2020 By: Miriam Acosta and Anisa Gallegos

The year 2020...a year that will go down in history with many stories of how in just a matter of days everything became chaos. This will be a year to look back at and reflect and within just a matter of seconds we will tell the same story from different perspectives and what each story teller took away from this year even before it ended. One thing that is for sure though is that NONE of these stories will compare to the way that the graduating class of 2020 felt after a pandemic that they had no control over ended the most important and exciting year of their high school years early. They spent most of their life working so hard to walk across that stage and finally be recognized for their achievements starting from the day they started kindergarten to their senior year in may of the year 2020. In a matter of hours all of that was taken from them over something that they didn’t even cause and had no fault over. It is brought to light how much this affected their life and their fellow lower classmates have some words to say to the seniors of 2020 who didn’t deserve to have such an amazing year be ruined.

We hope that your very last days as a senior were ones that you can remember for the rest of your life. Although, you did not get the special moments such as your senior prank, senior prom and most importantly putting on your cap and gown and celebrating one of the most important accomplishments, we hope that through this time you have learned more important things about life. I think for a lot of us these important things can differ. We’ve all learned that our time with one another is precious and isn’t promised as life can throw a curve-ball at any moment, I mean who thought a virus would stop the whole world? Not me. Continue learning through this difficult time and know that we lower classmen are thinking about you all and wishing you the best in your future journey’s.

Although everyone else may not know what it is exactly these seniors are feeling, it is obvious that it is something so difficult to go through. Just know it is not the end of their journey because this is only one of the rough bumps that come with the journey of life. None of these words may change what has happened or even heal the wound but they’re meaningful. Keep in mind every single one of them has a deeper message that’s only meant to help. This is not the end for the graduating class of 2020...not even close. The world needs to stay tuned and watch them go further then they could ever go because this is all only to show everybody how strong they truly are. So dear class of 2020, show us how it's done, make us all proud the day that you walk across that stage, even if it's not as soon as we imagine just keep fighting because we believe in you.
